Spring is in the air.  And it is a great time to be a member of the PBA.  Can you believe that 2016 is the PBA’s 30th Anniversary?  So for 30 years now, the PBA has been playing a part in helping the great businesses of the Pasadena area.  |

We have started our 30th year off strong.   In February, we launched our new website. We hope you've had a chance to explore all the great features of the new site. Have questions or feedback? Email me.
    Jerry@huffinsurance.com

In March, we had our first major event, the PBA scholarship fundraiser at Kurtz’s beach.  That event raised nearly $7,000 to go towards the scholarships that we give out annually to local students to help further their education.  As I have stated in the past, there is no better way to invest in our community than investing in our youth.  The local community and business leaders came together to make this event a success.

Looking forward, the Taste of Pasadena is just around the corner on April 19th at Kurtz’s Beach.  This is a great chance to sample food from several local restaurants for one low cost.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

Going back to our 30th anniversary, we are planning an event to celebrate the anniversary, so please stay tuned for the details as I am sure that it will also be a can’t miss event.

The first quarter has been a challenging quarter for me personally.  But I can honestly say the friends and family of the PBA have been by my side and stepped up to help me out whenever I have needed them, and for that I say thank you.  In closing, I want to state that Pasadena is a great place to be and I am proud to call it my home both personally and for our business.  I wish everyone great success and if I can do anything to help you out, please feel free to reach out and contact me.

What a great way to get your business name out to possible customers for pennies and it remains out for one year. I have had members of the community tell me they use it as their yellow pages when looking for goods or services. We print and distribute 6,000 copies of our directory and have the community calling asking when the new issue will be available. Directory packets Were emailed and then mailed. If you did not get yours please email the PBA office and we will see you get one. We have extended the add 10% late payment charge if postmarked after March 2nd . If you have not had time to get your ad payment in we just gave you some extra time. You now have until March 11th without the late fee. We need all ads by March 31st.

    Vice President, Doug Cashmere

My time in the PBA has been filled with Moments of Truth. Right now you’re saying what does that mean. Let me explain. Over the years while getting more involved in the PBA I kept getting drawn to the organization. I witnessed an incredibly giving, generous, humble and selfless business community made up of small and large businesses with incredible people. Everyone always wants to help the community whether it be Scholarships, Luncheons for Elementary Kids, School Supplies, Christmas Presents during the Childs Christmas, Food during Thanksgiving, honoring our Veterans and a countless list of Community Needs that are met by the PBA time and time again. Not to mention our continued support of our Local Business through “Shopping Local “Our members never say no. When called upon for assistance they always come through and step up. More often than not our member businesses volunteer their products, services and money before we even reach out. I know I speak for everyone on the PBA Board and our Executive Director when I say that the members of the PBA and the Pasadena Community Members really know what it means when we say “It takes a Village”. Our continued involvement in helping others is Truly the meaning of “Moments of Truth”. Thank You to Everyone for All You Do.

The March General Membership meeting was held at Alibi’s Bar & Grill. Maureen Ford was a welcoming hostess, graciously welcoming the PBA at midday and rearranging her setup to accommodate everyone. Maureen has done a terrific job remodeling both the location and the reputation of Alibi’s. Did you know Alibi’s has a full service dinner menu? Stop on by for dinner and see what everyone is raving about. She has also introduced events and entertainment at Alibi’s throughout the week including trivia night, karaoke night, live entertainment and paint events! Follow them on Facebook to stay abreast of happenings.

Denise Nooe from the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs shared with the group services provided to veterans by the state of Maryland as well as encouraged all Pasadena businesses to consider hiring vets, as they make outstanding employees.

Members were delighted to hear that Pasadena took 1st place for in 100.7 The Bay’s “Hometown Tour 2016.” They will be broadcasting live on Wednesday, March 9 from 4pm-7pm at Twain’s Tavern. PBA members were offered special advertising rates to be on the air during the broadcast and everyone was invited to come out and show their support, celebrating Pasadena as a great hometown.

We had a great networking mixer and the newly renovated Rivers Chase @ Kurtz’s Beach. The 40+ members who attended were amazed at the transformation of Kurtz’s Beach. We want to thank John Mason and everyone at Kurtz’s Beach for the delicious food, the entertainment, and great venue to have a mixer. Check out Kurtz’s for your wedding, party, fundraiser, or meeting needs. You will not be disappointed.
