The 8th Annual Taste of Pasadena cooked up another outstanding event highlighting the local restaurants and food services businesses in the Pasadena Business Association.

This year we had a few new places join us. The Chocolate lady from Coco Couture delighted us with some Chocolate Crabs with Old Bay, quite appropriate for the evening. They were good with just a hint of Old Bay to make them compliment the chocolate.  They also brought their Peanut Butter Bliss that melts in your mouth.  And we also had the new Mexican Restaurant in town, Picantillo.  Now we know where to go for Cinco de Mayo.  They brought their delicious Tortilla Soup. But the talk of the night newcomer was Alibi's Bar & Grill with their "Bada Bing" Shrimp. Not sure what it was, but they were totally delicious and we'll be going there for dinner for sure!!

We were glad to have Bella Napoli back this year with their award winning Cream of Crab Soup. The best in my book too.

The big surprise and hit of the night was Lauer's Supermarket. Their Chicken Skewers were drawing people back for more. They have the best catering food as well as their hot food selections ready at their store.  Beefalo Bobs always pleases with their outstanding Pulled Pork with all those tasty sauces to choose from. Every year Mutiny Pirate Bar & Island Grille surprises us with some tasty island food and this year's tuna tacos were a crunchy delight. Glory Days Grill once again brings out something special and their Pretzel Dippers and Boneless Wings were yummy. The Greene Turtle had their Crab Dip, my favorite. Kurtz’s  Beach always cooks up a specialty and their Crab Casserole is outstanding. Pat’s Select selected their pizza to please us all.     To top off the night, Angels brought out a nice selection of desserts and we all enjoyed the Chocolate Covered Strawberries from Edible Arrangements and the best ice cream in town from Brusters.

A special thanks to all our participating vendors: Alibis, Angel Food Market, Beefalo Bob's, Bella Napoli,  Brusters Ice Creme, Coco Couture Chocolates and Ice Cream, Edible Arrangements, Glory Days Grill, Kurtz's Beach, Lauer's Supermarket, McDonalds, Mutiny Pirate Bar & Island Grill, Pat's Select,  Picantillo and The Greene Turtle.

This all took place at the beautifully renovated Kurtz's Beach, with the best view in town. John Mason and his staff took good care of us. Thanks John!!

Also, special thanks to Maher's Florist for the beautiful purple flowers. Spring was in the air inside and out. Thanks Kim!!

Everyone was greeted by the smiling faces of Linda Loane from the Bank of Glen Burnie and Doug Cashmere from Ace Hardware, the best ticket takers in town! Thanks Linda and Doug!

All this couldn't be done without our dedicated and organized Executive Director Sandi Parrish who gets things done, and makes things happen.  Thanks Sandi!

It was a privilege for me, Gina the Pasadena Avon Lady, to work with this great team and head up this outstanding event.

But most of all, thank you to everyone who attended!!  While you are making dinner plans with friends, birthday parties with loved ones, special occasions and graduations or a Mother's Day dinner visit our proven delicious restaurants and catering businesses.  That's what the Taste of Pasadena is all about!!

On behalf of the PBA we would like to say “Thank you” to Cub Scout Troop #468 under the leadership of Dave Lemons. These scouts along with their sponsors were able to get the Flag down before the impending storm with winds gusting at 50 miles per hour. They did a great job folding the flag which is 15 X 25 ft. For many of them this was the largest flag that they have ever folded and told us that they were honored to complete the task.

Our April General Membership Meeting was held at The Greene Turtle in Pasadena. The food was wonderful and it was a pleasure working with Tony Lombardi and his staff for a great day. County Executive Steve Schuh was our guest speaker and he gave us some insight on projects he is considering and other county issues. Thanks Steve for taking time out of your busy schedule and talking with our membership.

Spring is in the air.  And it is a great time to be a member of the PBA.  Can you believe that 2016 is the PBA’s 30th Anniversary?  So for 30 years now, the PBA has been playing a part in helping the great businesses of the Pasadena area.  |

We have started our 30th year off strong.   In February, we launched our new website. We hope you've had a chance to explore all the great features of the new site. Have questions or feedback? Email me.

In March, we had our first major event, the PBA scholarship fundraiser at Kurtz’s beach.  That event raised nearly $7,000 to go towards the scholarships that we give out annually to local students to help further their education.  As I have stated in the past, there is no better way to invest in our community than investing in our youth.  The local community and business leaders came together to make this event a success.

Looking forward, the Taste of Pasadena is just around the corner on April 19th at Kurtz’s Beach.  This is a great chance to sample food from several local restaurants for one low cost.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

Going back to our 30th anniversary, we are planning an event to celebrate the anniversary, so please stay tuned for the details as I am sure that it will also be a can’t miss event.

The first quarter has been a challenging quarter for me personally.  But I can honestly say the friends and family of the PBA have been by my side and stepped up to help me out whenever I have needed them, and for that I say thank you.  In closing, I want to state that Pasadena is a great place to be and I am proud to call it my home both personally and for our business.  I wish everyone great success and if I can do anything to help you out, please feel free to reach out and contact me.

What a great way to get your business name out to possible customers for pennies and it remains out for one year. I have had members of the community tell me they use it as their yellow pages when looking for goods or services. We print and distribute 6,000 copies of our directory and have the community calling asking when the new issue will be available. Directory packets Were emailed and then mailed. If you did not get yours please email the PBA office and we will see you get one. We have extended the add 10% late payment charge if postmarked after March 2nd . If you have not had time to get your ad payment in we just gave you some extra time. You now have until March 11th without the late fee. We need all ads by March 31st.
