    Vice President, Doug Cashmere

My time in the PBA has been filled with Moments of Truth. Right now you’re saying what does that mean. Let me explain. Over the years while getting more involved in the PBA I kept getting drawn to the organization. I witnessed an incredibly giving, generous, humble and selfless business community made up of small and large businesses with incredible people. Everyone always wants to help the community whether it be Scholarships, Luncheons for Elementary Kids, School Supplies, Christmas Presents during the Childs Christmas, Food during Thanksgiving, honoring our Veterans and a countless list of Community Needs that are met by the PBA time and time again. Not to mention our continued support of our Local Business through “Shopping Local “Our members never say no. When called upon for assistance they always come through and step up. More often than not our member businesses volunteer their products, services and money before we even reach out. I know I speak for everyone on the PBA Board and our Executive Director when I say that the members of the PBA and the Pasadena Community Members really know what it means when we say “It takes a Village”. Our continued involvement in helping others is Truly the meaning of “Moments of Truth”. Thank You to Everyone for All You Do.

Members were delighted to hear that Pasadena took 1st place for in 100.7 The Bay’s “Hometown Tour 2016.” They will be broadcasting live on Wednesday, March 9 from 4pm-7pm at Twain’s Tavern. Local radio station 100.7 The Bay, Baltimore's Classic Rock Station, has announced that of the five finalist competing for Favorite Hometown, Pasadena came in 1st Place!

The Bay has been family owned and locally operated since 1980. They are the opposite of the other stations in Baltimore owned by megacorporations, with national contests and people on the air piped in from other cities. As a local business and area supporter, The Bay is all about celebrating what is local and great about the Baltimore area. To call attention to the wonderful hometowns surrounding Baltimore, they launched The Bay Hometown Tour 2016. Submissions were accepted and the top 5 finalist competing were: Pasadena, Catonsville, Towson, Dundalk, and Owings Mills. After a month-long voting period, Pasadena came out on top.

To celebrate, The Bay will broadcast LIVE from Twain's Tavern on Wednesday, March 9, from 4pm-7pm. Please come out and join us as they interview PBA members, promote our great organization, and share why Pasadena is the Favorite Hometown!

    President's Message, by Jerry Nicklow

Hello everybody and thank you all for allowing me to have the privilege of being the President of the Pasadena Business Association.  It is truly an honor and I hope I do not let any of you down over the next two years.

I want to start off by thanking Mike Jacobs (JB Machine Parts & Supply) for stepping up last year to take the reigns.
He did a great job in his second stint as President and I commend him for it. I also want to thank the outgoing board members for their service over the past several years.  Thank you John Williams (Secure Solutions Lock and Key), Kim Wharton (Maher’s Florists), and Tracey Jessilonis (Country Club Automotive) for all of your efforts while on the board of the PBA.
It’s working with great people such as you that make it great to be part of the PBA.

The holiday season has come and gone and I hope we did all we could do to help support our local businesses during the holidays.
To me it seemed like I was taking down the decorations right after I put them up.
The holidays came and went in the blink of an eye.

And this year sure has started out with a fury with the record breaking snow fall in January.
The Pasadena community managed to dig out and get business back to normal very quickly.  Since record breaking is in the air already this year, let’s try to keep it going by getting our membership and event attendance to record breaking levels as well.  If we each get one new member to join this year, it would be incredible.  The PBA has a lot to offer to member businesses and we just need to pass on the benefits and value to our fellow local business owners.  With the membership levels at $120, $150, and $200 annually, the value is really there.
Heck, members will get their money’s worth just by being in the online directory (available to the world to see) and print directory (6000 copies distributed annually). If we work together, I see no reason why we cannot make this happen.

And finally, please don’t forget about our annual Scholarship Fundraiser being held on Saturday, March 12 2016, 7pm to 11pm at the newly renovated Kurtz’s Beach.
Information is on the website, you get use this shortcut to get to the event page on our new website:

I was just at an insurance industry conference and a friend of mine, Mike Stromsoe, an insurance agency owner from California, had a line in his presentation that was a real writer downer.  He stated “Your only here for a short time, so let it rip.”

Thank you to everyone for being a part of the PBA and I hope you all let it rip and have record breaking year’s for your businesses.

    Jerry Nicklow, PBA President
